Tracht / Traditional Costumes
x
(Please see <http://www.volkstanz.at/Trachten/Trachtenliste_Oesterreich.html> as well.)
As far as I know - please tell me, if I am wrong !! - there is not so much information about traditional Austrian costumes online.
Especially pictures are heavyly asked for but I can just point to the several resources which are listed below.
A lot of people is asking for information about traditional clothing, however, I can just offer the resources below and hope that the contacts will be - if not a solution - at least a help in your research.
Please let us (me and the readers of this page) know if you have found unlisted resources.
If you have special questions I can put the question on this page as well. If you want ... ;-)
Additionally I can translate my German pages into English, if you tell me, what page (the URL you'll find in the upper right corner) or snipped of German information you mean.
However, I am just a dancer ... ;-)
PLEASE NOTE:
- The following information shall give you some pointers to information about traditional Austrian clothing and it could help if you'd like to purchase such a dress or make it yourself.
- Unfortunately I myself can not send you patterns and I do not sell these dresses, since I am just a dancer who has collected some information about Austrian folk dancing.
- However, if you get further information during your researches, or if you have a specific question which is not covered by the following hints, please tell me and I'll put it on this page. THANKS!

Wer Trachten weitergeben oder verkaufen will ... If you want to simply buy a "Tracht". Another idea ...
Instead of buying a traditional clothing it could be a practicable way (especially for people from abroad) to buy the instructions for making a specific traditional costume and ask a local tailor to manufacture it. These instructions are available and the material you can get from several shops.
